My Setup

Ok, so here is my setup.

Although I do not currently have an actual DVR/PVR system and cannot pause live TV etc.. i will share what I do have.

So currently I have my classic modded Xbox with a 250GB drive hooked up to my 47" HDTV via Component (no HDMI yet )

I also have another server acting as my NAS (Network Attached Storage) with an additional 500GB of storage which I can access just fine with via the Xbox.

So I can download all the HD content from the net and can view it on my TV and it works great. I will post some pics as well. I hope to see what I am competing against

If you have any questions on how I did my setup or wanting to setup a NAS of your own, let me know.

Fatal.

Nice! That sounds pretty good, I would like to see some pics..

How did you get that network storage setup? How do I mod an xbox? They are pretty cheap right now i would think?

Hey Zak,

The NAS is a basically a unix box using a distribution called FreeNAS, http://www.freenas.org

Its a simple setup, just burn the small ISO on a cd, bootup and configure your network. It has a web interface that will allow you to setup your shares.

The xbox should be cheap, you can probably find pre-modded boxes up on ebay or buy sell these days.

Here my setup... or don't do this....

Hi
Just one thing to remember, this is a work in progress.....
My next addon is a 8000HD to complete my entertainment center.
My latest addon is this amazing Olevia 342i HDTV monitor, hell who needs a tuner anyway?
When your a single old fart living in the woods... whats one to do anyway?
Now don't do this, look real carefully at all the cables in the back?
If you got up close, it looks like a spaghetti factory exploded in behind my setup.... got a broom? Bonnnnn-appetite, ya-all?

I got a picture, but can't upload so you all can see it
