Have a question about the 'slingbox'. Would like to purchase it but worried about being a mac

user.? I have a Airport Express which I use for wireless in my house. This is set up in the bedroom and my Tivo is in the basement. I think I need to purchase other equipment in order to get the slingbox to work. Need to know if I need a new router like the Airport Extreme and any other problems I might have. Seems like PC users are happy but alot of negative reviews with Mac users? Thanks.

I found this link from http://www.dvrplayground and I think the article answers both/all your questions. At the VERY bottom of the article it says "a computer running Windows 98SE, Windows Me, Windows 2000, or Linux should also work, as should a Mac running OS 10 or later. If you would like to contribute information for any of those platforms, feel free to respond under this article.". The other part of the article does say you do not need a new router. Check out the link below. the site is also very good with DVR's

Or their main site you may find MORE interesting information, It has been GREATTTT for me. I know there are quite a few people that have posted comments about being MAC users in the past for several Tivo upgrades and issues. Hope this helps...

If you do NOT have a wired ethernet connector in the room with the slingbox you will need wireless router (which you say you have) and also an ethernet bridge. If you have a wired connection in both rooms just use that.

An ethernet bridge is like a wireless adapter you use for you computer to get access to the internet but it has a ethernet adapter (RJ-45) instead of USB plug. The ethernet adapter (RJ-45, looks like a bigger telephone plug) plugs up to the slingbox.

Note: Slingbox works well within you house (LAN). Unless you have a really fast upload speed (1-2+ Mbps), you will have trouble getting a smooth and high quality picture with a remote access.

Everything should be the same except the Mac had a differenet Sling Media player.

Go here to read up on Mac and download latest sling player for Mac.
