Motorola DCT700
I got an ad from shaw saying $98 for their shaw digital box. It looks like a budget version, the DCT700. Has anyone used this before? I've seen some pictures it doesn't seem to have a display nor have i seen a remote for it.... which im sure it has....
Is this box worth it? I currently don't have any digital box... |

I just looked into this. Shaw says all sales on digital boxes are final. The rep checked to see if there's a 15-day customer satisfaction policy, but she says the box is so new (on sale since Nov 28 by Shaw) that they haven't put any policy in place yet.
Just thought you might want to know. You might want to try seeing if they'll sell it to you with a guarantee that you can return it within X days.

I was thinking of getting these since they "up convert" analog to digital and have a nice small size (for under my two flat panel LCD's). But since they don't have S-video I decided against it.
I currently have two DCT2500's and a HDPVR (DCT6412) in my main living room. I found out Shaw will pay you back $150 each for the DCT2500's as an FYI (at least in Edmonton). |

Good point. $100 is a good price point for most people. Plus if they are currently using a regular coax connection I guess the good old RCA yellow, red and white's would be a better connection as well.
Has anyone compared the analog quality on a DCT2xxx to this new DCT700? I watch a lot of analog channel's, so if the quality is a lot better I might be willing to give up my S-video. I'm not using the 5.1 on the two LCD TV's either (although to have that option in the future might be nice). |
