Didn't see a section for this, but I got my wii modded with the official wiikey chip...

I am having issues playing the backups with my cheap media... whats the best DVD-R/+R brand to get?

There are several, but really all but the starage amounts our the only difference I can tell, Verbatim, differ's from say 'a Maxwell' in brand name alone, but depending on what type of DVD -R, or +R your using they all do the samething, Personally I cannt see any difference until you get to the _\-RW and +RW brands.
I buy from Sam's Club locally, so Packs of 100 are cheaper, So I guess .30 eash isnt so bad X100 ofcourse.
Since the standard is 4.7 on all stadard DVD's then to me personally its the pricce that matters, I would assume the same manufactory makes difference brand, its just the names that are different, so no sence in paying more for something that does the same job.
