Can I use a New H20 Directv Receiver to receive local HD programming without

subscribing? Can I use a New H20 Directv Receiver to receive local HD programming without subscribing? I am just looking to see the local HD channels before making an investment. Got a receiver at Costco that I can return easily. It has an over the air antenna input. I just know know if it will boot without activation.

The receiver will not do a thing unless it's activated. If you want to check out Local HD in advance you will have to get hold of an OTA antenna. I will say however that I have the DTV HD package with the HD DVR and couldn't be more satisfied. Especially when they have the over 100 HD channels this year.
