Most of these channels will definitely be available by the end of the year. Additional satellites have already been launched, and a few more will be launched within the next couple of months. Most of these additional HD channels will be available in Q3 (the 3rd quarter of the year), which begins in early July. There is no exact number yet on how many of those channels will be available this summer, but by the end of the year, there should be over 100 channels offered in HD. It seems like a long to wait, but I think it will be well worth the wait. And if you already have an HD receiver and pay the additional $9.99 per month for it, the price will not go up when these channels become available. The DirecTv website has some pretty good info.
