Is it possible to add a store bought DVR to a Direct TV receiver and record 1 show, while watching
another.? I want to add a retail DVR (not Tivo) to my Direct TV receiver. Will I be able to record one program, while I watch another. I don't want to pay for another service JUST to record TV programs from my Direct TV signal

If you're not even interested in HD, I'd suggest that you call Directv regarding this. If you've been a customer for any length of time, I bet that they'll upgrade your unit gratis.
