Thanks for your reply,To be quite honest with you,it did not make much sense.

I know I over loaded components in the IF section of the VS receiver by hooking cable to TV "to IF port",instead of "out to TV port", My hurried error resulted in SMOKE.Having an Electronics/Telecom background,I know you have to"pull the plug fairly fast"or goodbye.My question was :-Will damage to the IF circuitry have an adverse effect on the Video circuits.

I also do not follow your reference to China,It is my understanding Genuine VS STB's are made in Korea,clones originate in China and are known to have a high failure rate.

I believe VS discontinued manufacture of the Platininum as it was identical to the Extreme except for the component ports,and replaced it with the less expensive VS LITE.

I might be new to the Dvrtalk site,but I have been in this testing game for many years and was simply asking with my negligence and likely damage to the Plat,would it be wiser to buy a new Toy.
